The Tigers will finish the the 2018 recruiting year without signing a quarterback after Alabama four-star, dual threat James Foster chose the Texas A&M Aggies.
This is another big blow to LSU’s class after missing out on cornerbacks Mario Goodrich and Patrick Surtain Jr.
With new offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger and a new style of offense, Foster could have certainly competed for the Tigers starting quarterback.
This one especially hurts because of the potential transfers of quarterbacks Justin McMillan and Lowell Narcisse. LSU has three scholarships quarterbacks for 2018, and that number could easily diminish after the spring.
LSU coach Ed Orgeron has said that competition for the starting role is open and they don’t have a set starting quarterback, but Myles Brennan was the only quarterback that got in-game reps in 2017. It is no question that Brennan is the favored person for the role.
Fortunately for the Tigers, they did secure Riverside QB Jordan Loving as a preferred walk-on.
