LSU junior all-arounder Sarah Finnegan has been named the Southeastern Conference’s Gymnast of the Week for her performance on the road against Georgia.
Against the GymDogs, Finnegan scored a 9.90 on vault and bars, 9.95 on beam and a 9.925 on floor. She won the all-around title with a score of 39.675.
This is the fourth time this season that Finnegan received the SEC Gymnast of the Week honor. She last received the honor a week earlier after setting a career high score in the all-around with a 39.775 at the Mardi Gras Invitational in St. Charles, Missouri.
LSU owns 10 total SEC weekly honors this season.
Senior Myia Hambrick* also received the honor three times this season and is still the top floor specialist in the nation.
Freshmen all-arounders Sami Durante and Christina Desiderio received their special honors throughout the season, and junior all-arounder Lexie Priessman was the Specialist of the Week after posting three career highs against Texas Woman’s.
As of right now, Finnegan ranks inside of the top 10 nationally in every event except for vault. She ranks second on bars and the all-around, fourth on beam, ninth on floor and 15th on vault.
In the SEC, Finnegan is the top gymnast in bars, beam and the all-around. She also ranks third on floor and fifth on vault.
With the SEC title on the line, Finnegan and the Tigers will face No. 15 Auburn in the PMAC this Sunday at 2:30 p.m. LSU will clinch the SEC regular season title if they win.
