Landing one of the nation’s top recruits was clearly the biggest commitment for the Tigers. After an essential battle between LSU and Auburn for the coveted wideout, Archbishop Rummel standout Ja’Marr Chase chose the Tigers over the other Tigers.
After initially commiting to the University of Florida, he decommitted and it opened the door for LSU. After recruiting Chase as hard as anyone, the Tigers landed him when LSU needed a bright spot the most.
With losing its two most productive wide receivers in DJ Chark and Russell Gage, convincing Chase to come to Baton Rouge has been a primary focus for the LSU coaching staff.
With the addition of Texas Tech transfer Jonathan Giles and promising receivers such as Stephen Sullivan and Dee Anderson, Chase will add to an already talented receiving corps.
The five-star recruit is a big boost to LSU coach Ed Orgeron’s signing class that didn’t exactly pan out the way it was expected to. The Tigers will have plenty of options next season at receiver, with a mix of size and athleticism.
