This week for the Easter Egg I chose a personal favorite of mine, Crypt of the Necrodancer. Released on 2015, Crypt of the Necrodancer is a top-down 2D roguelite rhytm game. You take control of Cadence (and various other characters as they are unlocked) as she infiltrates the crypt to find the golden lute and her father. The Necrodancer steals her heart, forcing her to fight and move to the beat of the music to defeat the Necrodanccer. The gameplay is remarkably well done, bringing together a wide variety of weapons and moves that all work really well with the grid movement and music. Of course the music itself is really, really good considering it was composed by Danny Baranowsky, known for such powerhouses as Binding of Isaac and Super Meat Boy. With a game so focused on music I would be remiss to not mention that there are multiple remixes of the main soundtrack, each one corresponding to a different character. A_Rival, FamilyJules7x, Jake Kaufman, Girlfriend Records, Overclocked Remix, and Chipzel all contribute a soundtrack, each with their own unique style (but the same bpm to keep the gameplay the same pace). Honestly It is very difficult to describe how good this game is on paper, I would highly recommend checking out the game for yourself and just let the style and soundtracks wash over you.
