Ten months after the death of LSU freshman Maxwell Gruver, comprehensive changes to LSU Greek Life are taking hold.
The President’s Greek Life Implementation Committee has released its report after carrying out LSU President F. King Alexander’s Action Plan. Alexander formed the committee when he approved the Task Force on Greek Life’s recommendations on Feb. 28. The committee examined the policies approved by Alexander and carefully refined and developed them, according to a press release announcing the report.
The biggest change made by the Implementation Committee is the introduction of Policy Statement 76 — Greek Life Committees. This establishes the Oversight Committee on Greek Life, which will meet twice a year to “review Greek-related policies, procedures and training/educational requirements,” according to the press release.
The Committee will schedule meetings every four years to perform a complete review of Greek Life, according to the release. Additionally, a Greek Alumni Advisory Committee will be formed to strengthen communication between the Office of Greek Life and Greek alumni. 
Many of the revisions the Implementation Committee made were to more clearly define the policies outlined. The committee sought to examine what constitutes hazing and how to clearly define it, establish transparency in the banning of common-source alcohol, create a new Greek Standards for Success process and provide more accountability in each chapter’s disciplinary history on the Greek Life website.
Alexander released a statement on the Implementation committee’s changes, praising their commitment to strengthen LSU Greek Life. 
“We commend the work of the committee, student leaders, faculty and staff, our Greek alumni and anyone else who participated or provided feedback during this process,” Alexander said in the statement. “We are all committed to change, and this is a major step forward for the culture shift we need surrounding Greek Life and other student organizations at LSU.”
