LSU players swept the first week of the Louisiana Sports Writer Associations college players of the week awards with running back Nick Brossette, linebacker Jacob Phillips and kicker Cole Tracy earning honors.
Brossette rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday night’s 33-17 victory over the Miami Hurricanes in just his second career start.
Phillips made a career high seven tackles to go with an interception returned 45 yards for a touchdown.
Tracy, a JUCO transfer, went 4-for-4 on field goals including a 54 yard make that tied a school record. The four made field goals were one shy of a school record but were the most made by a kicker in his LSU debut.
