Coming into Sunday night’s game, there was a lot of uncertainty surrounding the LSU offense. But, quarterback Joe Burrow and running back Nick Brossette proved that the Tiger offense is a force to be reckoned with by defeating Miami 33 to 17. 
“I think Steve Ensminger did an excellent job of managing the game tonight,” LSU head coach Ed Orgeron said. “Although we made some mistakes really early, Joe Burrow kept his cool, and we were able to score 33 points.”
Graduate transfer Joe Burrow had an impressive first performance as a starting quarterback going 11 of 24 for 140 yards.
“I’ve been here two months,” Burrow said. “Still working on timing in practice. Still working on the ins and outs of the offense. But, we have a bright future I think.”
“He’s going to get better,” junior linebacker Devin White said. “I know he’s going to criticize himself so he can get better. But, the offense and defense rallied behind him.”
Another standout player on the offense was senior running back Nick Brossette. And, while running 50 yards to score the first touchdown of his college career, he only had one thing on his mind. 
“The goal line,” Brossette said. “I just wanted to get in. I was so shocked. I was speechless.”
“I felt that he was our most physical back,” Orgeron said. “I felt that he was going to have a good night, and he did. I’m proud of Nick. He’s been tremendous all camp. And, I think that he’s going to have an excellent season.”
After their assertive win over Miami, it will be interesting to see what this LSU offense does next against Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday, September 8th.
