LSU dominates Ole Miss with a final score of 45-16. To our surprise, the lead rusher for the Tigers wasn’t a running back at all.
It was quarterback Joe Burrow with a total of 96 rushing yards.
We already knew Burrow had an arm on him, but what we didn’t know was how fast of a runner he really was. Burrow is the definition of a dual threat quarterback, and he is the whole package that the Tigers have been waiting for.
Coach Orgeron talks of how Burrow’s running game added an element of surprise to tonight’s game, and helped the Tigers come out on top.
“I’m really excited about the player Joe Burrow tonight,” Orgeron said. “I’m excited about the playing of the offensive linemen. Donavaughn Campbell, I thought played a really good game for the first time, Adrian Magee, came back hurt and did a good job. We ran the ball. I thought Burrow had a great game. He dialed it up, and he used Racey McMath in some different situations. He used Jefferson. I thought overall offensively, we had a great night.”
“I don’t think they were expecting him to run the football that much, but we have to be careful because we don’t want him to get hurt,” Orgeron said.
“It’s been fun,” Burrow said.
Next weekend, Joe Burrow and the rest of the Tigers take on the Florida Gators in the swamp to see if they can go on a 6 game winning streak.
