First hour had two tracks from Women, a band I was absolutely obsessed with back in the day, that has now split into Preoccupations (formerly Vietcong) an Cindy Lee. Some live MC5, and we went back in time 50 years for a totally fried version of the Dead’s “Caution”. The first hour wrapped up with Elizabeth Cotten’s “Oh Babe, It Ain’t No Lie” while the second hour got started with tracks from Gabie Strong’s label, Crystalline Morphologies. Make sure you check out her work, some of my favorite new music comes from her and her label. A beautiful piano/voice piece by Christina Carter followed, and she’s performing in Charalambides in New Orleans in a few weeks so stay tuned for more info.
