The first week of class blues. First and foremost, a really cool dude, PhilaTaper, passed away last week. I encourage everyone to check out his archive of recordings. I’m really digging Circuit Des Yeux these days and we heard her twice tonight. We also heard Deerhunter twice, in honor of the 10^th anniversary of Microcastle, seeing them at Chelsea’s on that tour was my freshman dream come true when I got to LSU. Second hour oscillates between docile and feral throughout. Highly recommend digging up this Dewey Redman session, the ending of “PS” has me feeling like I’m in another world. And it still sounds fresh alongside McPhee and Corsano’s “For Paul Flaherty”. We ended the night with one of Annea Lockwood’s glass experiments and I sent everyone off  to bed with Roy Orbison’s “In Dreams” (hopefully while Blue Velvet plays in yr head).
