The University announced in a press release that the President’s Task Force on Greek Life is extending the deadline for making its recommendation from January 30 to February 21. The task force’s next meeting has been rescheduled for January 24 at 4:30 p.m. The room location of the meeting has yet to be determined.
In a letter addressed to the LSU community, LSU President F. King Alexander explained that recent national events relating to Greek Life have created more opportunities for discussion. He will announce his official response to the final report in late February.
“Since the creation of the Task Force, there have been a number of incidents related to Greek Life around the nation, and the conversation around Greek organizations at universities has evolved,” Alexander said in the letter. “There are several entities working to develop recommendations and programs to move fraternities and sororities forward across the country, and this extension allows the Task Force to consider this collective information prior to making a final recommendation to me.”
