At BRPD’s third annual “Meet the Fleet” open house, future recruits got the chance to meet experience officers and learn about the separate divisions within the department. 
The fleet displayed vehicles and equipment that BRPD uses in in their every day lives, such as SWAT vehicles, bomb suits and BRPD’s steamboats and scuba gear. 
The purpose of the open house is to better educate and allure future recruits to join their depleting ranks. 
Officer Chris Kuhn describes the hardships of hiring reliable staff,”we do have a shortage, the depleting rate is pretty high. It’s hard to get them hired in as fast as they retire or officer’s leave for other opportunities out there. It’s a constant struggle to find qualified applicants who can come in and fill those positions.”
