Tight end coach and former LSU quarterback Steve Ensminger has been promoted to offensive coordinator, the school announced Wednesday afternoon. 
Ensminger has been apart of the Tigers’ coaching staff for the last eight years. His most recent offensive coordinator job was at Clemson in 1997-98.
Ensminger served as the interim offensive coordinator in the 2016 season following the dismissal of head coach Les Miles and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron. 
During the 2016 season, Ensminger’s offense averaged 32 points and 465 total yards per game. The Tigers went 6-2 in the final eight games, scoring at least 35 points in five of them. 
LSU broke multiple records during Ensminger’s interim including total offense in an Southeastern Conference game, time of possession, longest run from scrimmage and rushing yards in a game. 
Orgeron will formally introduce Ensminger as offensive coordinator at a press conference on Thursday at noon.
