The University announced Friday that Stacia Haynie has been named as the University’s next vice president and provost, pending approval by the LSU board of supervisors. 
Haynie has been serving as interim executive vice president and provost since April.
“We are pleased to name Stacia Haynie as our executive vice president and provost,” said LSU President F. King Alexander in a press release. “Throughout her nearly 30-year career at LSU, Dr. Haynie demonstrated her leadership ability and commitment to promoting research and creative scholarship, as well as ensuring our students get the exceptional educational experience they deserve from Louisiana’s flagship university.”
The announcement marked the end of the University’s national search for candidates to fill the position. In total, four candidates came to campus to conduct open forums with students and be interviewed by the search committee, chaired by LSU Boyd Professor Mark Batzer and Distinguished Professor in Biological Sciences Dr. Mary Lou Applewhite. 
“A special thanks goes out to the search committee for their hard work, and to all the faculty, staff and students who attended the candidate forums and provided feedback to the committee,” Alexander said in the press release.
Haynie joined the LSU Department of Political Science in 1990 and served as dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences before becoming interim executive vice president and provost in April.
“I am excited to continue to work with President Alexander and the LSU leadership team as executive vice president and provost,” Haynie said in the press release. “I have never been more optimistic about LSU than I am right now.”
