LSU Police Department Canine Teams placed at the Field Trials hosted
by Region 10 of the United States Police Canine Association in
Ponchatoula last week, according to a Monday news release.
Of the six teams that participated in explosive detection challenges,
LSUPD Officer Joseph Chambless and K-9 Sendy finished second overall.
Officer Christopher Masters and K-9 Meggie placed third overall among
the 39 narcotics detection teams and also won the Top Rookie Dog
award.
Masters and Meggie will compete at the USPCA National Field Trials in May.
This was the first time LSUPD teams have participated in the event.
