Three juveniles charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia; father charged with improper care of minors
Three male juveniles were charged March 11 with possession of seven grams of marijuana and an orange and white pipe.
A 15-year-old juvenile was driving a dark sedan down Skip Bertman Drive without headlights at 7:33 p.m. when LSU Police Department pulled the vehicle over, said Det. Jason Bettencourtt, LSUPD spokesman.
The police officer asked the driver, a 14-year-old male and 16-year-old male to step out of the vehicle. The driver told the officer he didn’t have a drivers license and there was seven grams of marijuana in the vehicle.
The officer searched the sedan and found the marijuana and an orange and white pipe.
The juveniles told LSUPD the 15-year-old’s father was at the University baseball game and they didn’t have tickets. The father gave them the keys to listen to the game, but they decided to take a drive, Bettencourtt said.
The juveniles were transported to LSUPD office, where their guardians were called to pick them up. The father of the 15-year-old was questioned and charged with Improper care of a minor.
Student charged with DWI and reckless operation of a vehicle
A 19-year-old University student was charged with DWI, reckless operation of a vehicle and driving the wrong way down a one way after a sorority/fraternity exchange.
LSUPD observed Joshua Crow, of 2107 Edgewood Drive in Monroe, driving a Chevy truck 35 mph in a 20 mph zone near South Campus Drive. Crow then sped up about 5 mph while traveling on the Miller Extension and drove over a concrete barrier before traveling west in front of Miller, which is a one way, Bettencourtt said.
Officers stopped Crow in front of McVoy Dormitory where he admitted to having mixed drinks and two beers at an exchange.
Crow appeared intoxicated during field sobriety tests and was transported to the LSUPD office. He refused a breathalyzer test the office, Bettencourt said.
Crow was charged and booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
