ESPN.com’s Tom Luginbill is reporting that four-star quarterback Jerrard Randall, who previously committed to Oregon in June, has now switched his commitment to LSU and is expected to sign as soon as Saturday.
Randall was not qualified on National Signing Day in February, but has since regained eligibility. The cause of eligibility was not named.
Some controversy still looms over the issue. Shea Dixon, managing editor of TigerSportsDigest.com tweeted on the report saying, “Certainly don’t think he’s committed right now. Stones must be unturned before offering.”
Derek Ponamsky, recruiting analyst and publisher of BayouBengalsInsider.com also expressed his doubts via twitter saying, “not sure if its a done deal yet.”
The Hollywood, Fla. native is listed as 10th best duel-threat quarterback in the 2011 class and has reeled in more than a dozen other offers. If Randall were to sign with LSU, he would be the 23rd member of the class and the third quarterback, along with Zach Mettenberger and three-star signee Stephen Rivers.
