The LSU softball team got things back on track this weekend.
The Tigers earned their first Southeastern Conference victory Saturday night, 2-1, against Kentucky and then took the series Sunday with a 4-1 win at Tiger Park.
LSU (17-12, 2-6) snapped a seven-game losing streak and a 0-6 start in the SEC on Saturday.
Junior pitcher Brittany Mack earned wins in both of LSU’s victories, throwing two complete games in a 26-hour period.
Mack only allowed one earned run in 14 innings of work.
LSU junior left fielder Ashley Langoni struck a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the third inning and then freshman shortstop Tammy Wray hit an RBI double to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead Sunday.
LSU’s fourth run came when Kentucky junior pitcher Chanda Bell walked Langoni with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Tigers will take their newfound momentum to Thibodaux on Wednesday to face Nicholls State at 6 p.m.
LSU won’t return home until April 6 when the Colonels travel to Tiger Park.
