LSU’s relay teams looked impressive in their first action of the season at the LSU Relays on Saturday, as they won all but one relay event.
The debut of the Mondo surface at the stadium turned out to be a hit, as three stadium records fell on Saturday.
Both the men’s and women’s 4×200-meter relay teams cruised to easy victories in their events, setting new Bernie Moore Stadium records in the process.
The Tigers 4×200 team came within .15 seconds of topping the University record in the event by running a 1:20.99, more than a second faster than the previous stadium record.
Junior All-American Rachel Laurent set an LSU record Saturday in the women’s pole vault competition, clearing 14 feet, 2.5 inches –an inch higher than the previous LSU record.
Laurent easily cleared the mark, though she was on the runway for nearly two-and-a-half hours when she topped it.
