Former U.S. Rep. W. Henson Moore, the chairman of the Forever LSU campaign, will speak at the main commencement ceremony this May.
Moore will speak at the main ceremony in the PMAC at 9 a.m. on May 20.
Moore represented Louisiana’s sixth congressional district for 12 years and served as a captain in the Military Police Corps.
As chair of the Forever LSU campaign, Moore oversaw the largest fundraising effort in LSU history that saw the school reach more than its $750 million goal.
“We are delighted to have Henson Moore speaking at LSU’s May commencement,” Chancellor Michael Martin said in a news release. “We are grateful for everything he has given to LSU over the years, especially his leadership in chairing the Forever LSU campaign. He is one of the most dedicated volunteers I’ve ever met, and I think our graduates will enjoy the passion he has for LSU and wisdom he will provide in his speech.”
