The LSU men’s tennis team ousted the No. 18 Auburn and snapped a six-match losing streak to the Tigers with a 5-2 win at W.T “Dub” Robinson Stadium on Friday afternoon.
The winning decision came down to Court 2 and 3 in singles play. With LSU leading 3-2, junior Neal Skupski defeated Auburn’s Alex Stamchev 7-6, 6-2 to clinch the match for the Tigers.
Senior Sebastian Carlsson extended the lead to five with a 6-4,6-4 win over Daniel Cochrane on Court 4 to end the match.
The Lady Tigers also defeated Auburn 5-2 at Yarbrough Tennis Center on Friday afternoon. LSU lost the doubles point, but won four singles matches in a row to clinch the match.
The Tigers will resume play against Alabama at 1 p.m. on Sunday in Robinson Stadium. The Lady Tigers will play Alabama in Tuscaloosa at 1 p.m. on Sunday in the Alabama Tennis Complex.
