Former LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson was selected with the fifth overall pick by the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday in the 2011 NFL Draft.
Peterson will most likely start opposite fellow Cardinals cornerback Dominique Rodgers Cromartie, who is widely known as the NFL’s most coveted cover corners.
Auburn quarterback Cam Newton was the first overall pick by the Carolina Panthers. Texas A&M linebacker Von Miller went second to Denver, Buffalo chose Alabama defensive tackle Marcel Darius with the third pick and Cincinnati selected Georgia wide receiver A.J. Green with the fifth pick.
