The LSU softball team capitalized on five RBIs from junior outfielder Ashley Langoni to defeat Arkansas 8-0 in Fayetteville, Ark.
Langoni extended her hitting streak to seven games as the Tigers (19-12, 3-6) rolled to their fourth straight win. Freshman third baseman Tammy Wray added three RBIs in a 2-3 performance.
Sophomore pitcher Rachele Fico (6-8) struck out five and allowed only four hits in the shutout.
“”This is a huge series for us, and we need to be successful for the entire weekend,”” LSU coach Yvette Girouard said. “”We dug a big hole early in SEC play and have to climb out of it. This was a good start to the weekend.””
The Tigers return to action tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. for the second game of the series.
