Gov. Bobby Jindal has ordered an official state of emergency in response to predicted wintry weather.
“The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) activated its Crisis Action Team (CAT) to monitor wintry and possible hazardous conditions that could impact parts of Louisiana over the next few days,” a news release from Jindal’s office said.
State offices in East Baton Rouge parish will also be closed Thursday, according to reports.
The University has “no cancellations to report,” according to a University statement.
The National Weather Service has issued freeze warnings, hard freeze warnings, or freezing rain warnings for most of the state over the next 72 hours.
