Rep. Weiner resigned after boxer photo appeared on Twitter
Former Rep. Anthony Weiner was caught with his pants down — literally — when a photo of him clad in boxer briefs appeared on his Twitter in May.
The congressman initially denied that the photo was of him, claiming his account had been hacked.
Reports soon surfaced that Weiner had been engaged in relationships with several women over the Internet for months and the leaked photo was just one of many he’d been sending to them.
Shortly after, Weiner’s wife, Huma Abedin, announced she was pregnant and Weiner requested a leave of absence from Congress to receive professional treatment.
After enduring pressure to step down from party leaders and peers, Weiner resigned in June, 20 days after the photo was initially leaked.
