No. 1 LSU may be making the trip to Tuscaloosa, Ala., this weekend, but there is still football to be played on campus, albeit a different kind.
The LSU Rugby Club will take on Florida State at the Sports and Adventure Complex Fields on Saturday at noon in their first home game of the fall.
“We’re trying to get it over with early,” said senior outside center and captain Jeff Levasseur. “We’re trying to get in and out so we can get the fans out there. They can come watch us, and then still have enough time to go do their activities at win.”
The team has been working on its kicking attack, which the Tigers have never been known for, according to Levasseur. Levasseur cited FSU’s back three, or the two wings and the fullback who field kicks in the back of the formation, as its biggest weakness.
“We want to keep the ball in their half,” Alongi said. “We want to put pressure on them early by exploiting their was.”
Alongi said he hopes to set the trend for the LSU football team with a win Saturday, and Levasseur went as far as making a couple of predictions.
“As long as we play our defensive style the way we want to in their territory, we’ll be set,” Levasseur said. “In football, I think the defense stays strong, the offense takes care of itself, and we should get a double victory this
