University students can indulge in frozen treats and feel good about it on Tuesday.
A fundraiser to raise money for the Baton Rouge Children Advocacy Center will be held from 4 p.m. to midnight at Yogurtland on Burbank Drive, public relations senior Kaitlin Stanford said in an e-mail. By handing a flyer for the event to the cashier, customers can ensure 20 percent of the proceeds from their purchase benefit BRCAC, Stanford said.
“The center is not funded by any government agency, and relies strictly on donations and grants,” Stanford said.
BRCAC allows sexually and physically abused children to connect with trained professionals for help. These professionals coordinate investigation and prosecution of these childrens’ aggressors and provide treatment to these victims, Stanford said. The center provides help to children in East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Pointe Coupee and Iberville parishes.
Public relations students organized the event by talking to various local businesses in an attempt to find a good location for the fundraiser, Stanford said.
