Western Kentucky defensive coordinator Lance Guidry was arrested early Saturday morning for driving while intoxicated, according to The Advocate.
Guidry was stopped by police on College Drive around 1 a.m. and registered a 0.123 blood alcohol content, according to the affidavit obtained by The Advocate. Guidry coached in Western Kentucky’s 42-9 loss to LSU on Saturday.
“I would like to apologize to my family, our players, coaching staff, administration and fans for the undue attention my poor judgment has caused,” Guidry said in a statement. “Our football team put forth a tremendous effort against the nation’s top ranked team, and I have done a disservice to our entire program by shifting the focus away from where it belongs.”
Western Kentucky coach Willie Taggart said Guidry, a Welsh, La., native, attended high school football games Friday and met a friend at a restaurant near the team hotel later that night. Taggart said he will retain Guidry on his staff and will handle his discipline internally.
Before Guidry began coaching at Western Kentucky this season, he was an assistant coach at McNeese State, his alma mater, from 2000-04.
Guidry is the father of former LSU commitment Janzen Jackson, a defensive back who was dismissed from Tennessee before transferring to McNeese State.
