The Tigers extended their first half dominance into the second half, crushing any hopes the Rebels had of making the game close.
LSU cornerback Ron Brooks intercepted Zack Stoudt on the third play from scrimmage and returned it from near midfield to score the game’s first points. Drew Alleman added the extra point to make the score 7-0 in favor of the Tigers.
After an Ole Miss punt, the Tigers drove 84 yards and scored on a one yard rush by freshman running back Kenny Hilliard. The touchdown was Hilliard’s fifth on the season. Alleman added the extra point to push the Tigers lead to 14 points.
Ron Brooks created another turnover when he chased down Stoudt in the backfield, forcing and recovering a fumble.
Two plays later, Jefferson found Russell Shepard in the endzone for a 22 yard touchdown pass. Alleman added the extra point to make the score 21-0 LSU.
After a Michael Brockers sack pinned the Rebels at their own two yard line, Ole Miss fumbled the hand-off on second down. Kevin Minter fell on the ball in the enzdone for the Tigers second defensive touchdown of the night. Alleman’s extra point pushed the Tiger lead to 28 with 12:42 remaining in the second quarter.
The Rebels put eight men in the box, but none of them could put a hand on running back Spencer Ware who took the hand-off and ran up the middle for 35 yards and an LSU touchdown. Alleman’s extra point made the score 35-0 LSU.
Ole Miss got on the board at the 1:03 mark in the second quarter with a 39-yard field goal by kicker Bryson Rose, making the score 35-3 in favor of the Tigers.
Two and a half minutes into the second half, Jefferson pitched left to Michael Ford who scampered 19 yards for a touchdown. Alleman’s extra point takes the Tiger lead to 42-3.
James Stampley became the seventh Tiger to reach pay dirt on a fourth down rush from the one yard line. Another Alleman extra point made the score 49-3 with a minute left in the third quarter.
The Tigers drove the the Ole Miss 12 yard line with Zach Mettenberger under center, but the drive stalled and culminated in a 19 yard Alleman field goal to make the score 52-3 LSU.
