An Animal Science staff member was hit by a left-bound vehicle at the crosswalk of South Campus Drive and Forestry Drive today between 4 and 5 p.m., according to the LSU Police Department.
The pedestrian sustained a broken leg and was transported to a Ochsner’s Medical Center by EMS, according to LSUPD spokesman Cory Lalonde. The accident was a slow-speed occurrence, Lalonde said.
Lalonde said LSUPD is not releasing the pedestrian’s name at this time and does not have information about the driver of the vehicle.
Jim Pierson, sports administration junior, saw the aftermath of the accident before LSUPD arrived at the scene. He said he saw an older woman lying on the ground with a college-aged woman standing by her.
Pierson said there was no blood, but the woman on the ground wasn’t moving. He said a group of people were crowded around the scene before LSUPD arrived.
Elsewhere, a fire alarm went off in the Life Sciences building in the same time frame, but it was a false alarm, according to Lalonde.
