The University will observe National Campus Sustainability Day today with several events planned to encourage students to make more environmentally friendly choices.
In conjunction with Bike Week, there will be a bike auction from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tower Drive between Coates Hall and Free Speech Plaza.
Abandoned bikes collected by the Office of Parking, Traffic and Transportation this summer will be auctioned. Pictures of the bikes and their starting prices will also be posted on Student Government’s Facebook page.
At 7 p.m. in the Energy, Coast and Environment Building, there will be a showing of the documentary “FRESH,” which follows several urban farmers and activists as they promote healthier and sustainable food alternatives.
After the viewing, students are invited to join in a webcast seminar, or “webinar,” called “Campus Conversations” to discuss the importance of sustainability on college campuses.
