The Lady Tigers soccer team dominated the entire game against #10 Tennessee Friday night, defeating the Volunteers 2-0 in front of almost 1,300 fans at the LSU Soccer Stadium.
The Tigers (8-3-1, 3-0-0 SEC) continue to win as they push into their SEC schedule and extend their winning streak to eight matches with tonight’s shutout.
The Lady Tigers came into the match looking sharp, shooting for the goal multiple times in the beginning to keep Tennessee on their toes.
In the 33rd minute, midfielder Natalie Leyoub, with help from forward Kaley Blades and midfielder Natalie Martineau, shot from 25 yards out to put the first LSU score on the board.
The match continued after the half where, in the 61st minute, forward Addie Eggleston scored from ten yards out after charging the keeper with help from midfielder Allysha Chapman. Each goal was Ieyoub and Eggleston’s second of the season.
The Lady Tigers finished the game ready to move forward with SEC. “We thought from the beginning we could challenge to win the SEC,” LSU Head Coach Brian Lee said.
The Lady Tigers play the Georgia Bulldogs next, at 1 p.m. Sunday in the LSU Soccer Stadium.
