Brotherly love doesn’t always extend between the lines on a baseball diamond.
Freshman pitcher Aaron Nola learned that the hard way when his older brother, senior shortstop Austin Nola, nearly went yard on him during the baseball team’s first scrimmage in fall practice last week.
“I decided when I wrote the lineups that I’d get it over with the first day and have them face each other,” LSU coach Paul Mainieri said. “Aaron tried to challenge Austin with a fastball, and [Austin] deposited a double off the left-field everything.”
Austin said their relationship is “competitive,” and added that he loves to mess with his younger brother and get in his head to prepare him for the intensity of college baseball.
“He’s right at the age, being three years younger than me,”
