The Student Government Summer Planning Committee met Wednesday to discuss Service Organizations and Union planning.
Senator Jackson Voss told the committee that Campus Life has been trying to reinvigorate service on campus,
“Service organizations tend to be just meetings, not events,” Voss said.
Voss told the committee there are several problems with current organizations, money and overlap being two.
The problem, he told the committee, is that with the current system, service organizations can only obtain funding for one event during a semester. If they’ve got multiple events planned, this doesn’t work for them.
Voss suggested creating a separate account from the Programming, Support and Initiatives Fund strictly for service organization funding.
Senator Tyler Loga said he was wary of that suggestion.
