The No. 17 LSU golf team kicked off its 2011-2012 campaign with an eighth place finish with 9-over par at the 23rd Carpet Capital Collegiate Classic over the weekend.
This was the first tournament since the departure of NCAA Champion John Peterson and First Team All-SEC member Andrew Loupe from the Tigers, following last year’s impressive 21st place finish in the NCAA Championship.
LSU senior Sang Yi led the Tigers with a four-way tie for third place with a 5-under par total for the tournament.
“I’m certainly pleased with Sang’s performance,” said LSU coach Chuck Winstead. “This was probably his best finish of his career. I can’t think of another tournament that he performed better
