Student arrested for bike theft, possession
A Baton Rouge Community College student was arrested for felony theft after LSU Police Department officers discovered he stole a bike worth more than $700, said Capt. Cory Lalonde, LSUPD spokesman.
LSUPD officers were investigating a bike stolen from the east side of Middleton Library at 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 21 when they identified Evan O’Brien, 24, of 2821 Sarpy Ave., as the thief, Lalonde said.
O’Brien was also charged with possession of a narcotic when officers found one Xanax pill on him, Lalonde said.
O’Brien was booked at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Sept. 22.
Man caught with prescription drugs, paraphernalia
LSUPD officers arrested a man after a routine traffic stop when they found he was in possession of drugs without a prescription and paraphernalia on Sept. 24, Lalonde said.
Andre R. Clark, 37, of 2550 Joel Weaton Road No. 4004 in Houston, Texas, was stopped at 3:08 a.m. after improper lane usage on Dalrymple Drive, Lalonde said. LSUPD officers conducted a search of his vehicle and discovered promethazine and a plastic straw with traces of what LSUPD officers believed to be cocaine.
Lalonde said Clark did not have a prescription for the promethazine, which is commonly used as a surgical sedative or to treat allergic reactions.
Clark, who is unaffiliated with the University, was booked at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
