Plans are in the works to create a new University department comprising computer engineering and computer science, Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Jack Hamilton said today.
Hamilton said this is a common model among universities and this shuffle will strengthen the programs after they have both suffered faculty loss.
The University’s budget committee has been looking into this issue and recommended this program to Chancellor Michael Martin, who approved it, Hamilton said.
