The nine justices within the SG Judicial Branch voted Thursday night on the new deputy justice position which was created Sept. 14 at the SG Senate meeting.
Danielle Rushing, agricultural business junior and SG chief justice, said the election process went smoothly.
Five justices voted in favor of Jacob Ecker, history senior and associate justice on the University Court, and another two votes went to Lacey Fish, math senior and associate justice.
“I abstained as chair, and one [justice] was absent,” Rushing said.
As deputy justice, Ecker will assist Chief Justice Rushing in court processions.
