The University dropped four slots in the 2012 edition of US News & World Report’s best colleges list, published today, where it reigns in 128th place.
The University climbed to 124th place last year after sitting at 128th in the 2010 edition of best college rankings.
Sharing 128th place with the University this year are Colorado State University, Hofstra University (N.Y.) and New School (N.Y.). However, if the University is judged in this manner, it only dropped one place since those four schools compensate ranks 125 through 132 and four other colleges are tied for 124th place.
Chancellor Michael Martin said he is pleased the University remained in US News & World Report’s top tier, making it an unprecedented event in Louisiana public education history.
He said the University’s image may have been harmed due to its budget reductions over the past year, where the University has taken both mid-year and regular fiscal year cuts.
US News & World Report extended its ranks to 200 this year, leading Louisiana Tech University in Ruston to break through to the top tier in 194th place.
