LSU Police Department officers arrested a University student and a second individual on Sept. 27 for a string of vehicle burglaries that recently occurred on the University’s campus. University student Connor Lynch, 18, of 803 Drehr Ave., and Daniel Gilmer, 17, of 1775 Perkins Road, were charged with breaking into vehicles and taking several items, according to an LSUPD news release. Lynch and Gilmer are also charged with fraud and forgery for using stolen cards. In addition, Lynch was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia that was found around the time arrests were made, said Capt. Cory Lalonde, LSUPD spokesman. It is not clear what type of paraphernalia was in Lynch’s possession. LSUPD had received reports of vehicle theft in the Miller Extension parking lot on Sept. 26 and used surveillance videos to observe the thefts, the release said. Both suspects admitted to the crimes, and property found from the burglaries suggests more victims have yet to come forward. Lynch was formally charged with two burglary counts, theft by unauthorized use of an access card, conspiracy to commit forgery and possession of drug paraphernalia, the release said. Gilmer was formally charged with two burglary counts, theft by unauthorized use of an access card and forgery. Access card charges only resulted in misdemeanor offenses. Lynch and Gilmer were booked at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
