President Barack Obama will speak on campus in Reynolds Coliseum Wednesday at approximately 12:55 p.m., according to a White House press release and Student Body president Chandler Thompson.
Tickets will be available for free to students. Distribution begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday in the Brickyard; students will need to bring their student IDs to get a ticket.
According to the release, Obama will speak on the American Jobs Act, which he presented to a joint session of Congress on Thursday. The American Jobs Act proposes tax cuts to help America’s small businesses hire employees and grow. It is intended to help put workers back on the job, while rebuilding and modernizing America, helping Americans looking for jobs to find them and giving tax relief for every American worker and family.
Carter-Finley Stadium will distribute additional tickets to the general public at noon Tuesday at Vaughn Towers on 4600 Trinity Road, Gate C. While in the state, the President will travel to WestStar Precision in Apex.
An email sent out from Student Body President Chandler Thompson outlined changes in student parking and bus routes. Wolfline Transit will be detoured for the entire day with no service to the Dunn/Jeter, Carmichael Gym or Faucette Drive stops. The Coliseum Deck will also be closed. Students and others interested in parking are directed to use the Carter Finley Park and Ride lot which is accompanied by the route six Wolfline bus.
There will also be no parking allowed on Morrill Drive, including the “RE” spaces next to Derr Track, after 7 p.m. Tuesday. Students inconvenienced by this restriction are directed to park in West Deck or designated Greek Village parking. Any vehicle left in the areas stated above will be towed to another campus location.
