Jones Nji, a former University student, won second place in a world-wide competition for student papers at the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Pressure Vessel and Piping international conference in July, according to a University relations news release.
Nji, who received his mechanical engineering Ph.D. from the University last May, was one of 20 world finalists in the competition and the only one from the United States. His paper was titled “A Smart Polymer Composite for Repeatedly Self-Healing Impact Damage in Fiber Reinforced Polymer [FRP]
