An LSU System Board of Supervisors meeting scheduled for Jan. 24 has been postponed until March 4, according to a news release.
LSU System President John Lombardi said the cancellation was a result of a “lack of sufficient business to justify the expense of a board meeting.”
The postponement means university heads in the LSU System will have until March to come up with a revised plan to handle a cut of 10 percent in state funds.
Lombardi said in the release that the amount schools will actually have to cut might be less than that 10 percent, much less than the 32 percent cut administrators planned for in December.
Lombardi said administrators should still continue to plan for cuts because “we do not know what the Legislature may request of us once the session begins, so we will need to be ready to produce very quickly our likely responses at any level of detail that may be required during the legislative budget process.”
