The top-ranked LSU men’s track and field is back on the road today to test its shiny new ranking, traveling to Fayetteville, Ark. to compete in the Razorback Invitational. The meet, which is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., includes NCAA caliber programs such as No. 5 Oregon, No. 8 Stanford, No. 9 Florida State, No. 11 Nebraska, No. 12 Arkansas, No. 18 Texas and No. 19 Oklahoma State. Day 2 of the meet continues Saturday morning at 11:00. “We’re excited about the opportunity to compete in a competitive meet like this that will feature a number of teams we will see again at the NCAA Championships,” said LSU coach Dennis Shaver in a news release. “This is a competition that will better prepare us to compete against the nation’s best in the championship meets.” The Tigers are fresh off being named the No. 1 team in the country, according to the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Top 25 rankings. Accompanying the Tigers in Fayetteville will be the No. 3 LSU women’s track team. The Lady Tigers will face similar stiff competition as they go up against No. 1 Oregon, No. 6 Arkansas, No. 14 Florida State, No. 17 Nebraska, No. 18 Texas and No. 19 Arizona.
