Let the struggles continue for the LSU men’s basketball team.
Redshirt sophomore forward Dennis Harris has been dismissed from the team because of a violation of team rules, according to Tiger Rag editor Ben Love.
Love said the news came Sunday from Senior Associate Sports Information Director Ken Lowe.
Harris has struggled to stay healthy during his three years as a Tiger. He only played in four games this season because of a variety of injuries. In those four games he scored two points and pulled in five rebounds.
Harris missed the past four games, including Saturday’s 62-55 win at Auburn. The last game he played in was Dec. 22 against North Texas. He logged one minute and recorded two fouls. Harris’ season high in minutes came Dec. 13 against Coastal Carolina when he played for 15 minutes and grabbed three rebounds.
LSU coach Trent Johnson addressed Harris last Wednesday and said Harris’ setbacks were a combination of academic and conditioning issues.
“Quite frankly, because of his injuries, guys have passed him by,” Johnson said. “I think his grade report comes back (Thursday), but that won’t be the decision on him going or making this trip. The decision will be if he can help this team.”
Last season as a redshirt freshman, Harris averaged 4.6 points and 3.1 rebounds in 14.3 minutes per game.
