The Board of Regents announced Friday it has contracted the National Center for Higher Education Management Systems, NCHEMS, to assist in a study to analyze the feasibility of merging the University of New
Orleans and Southern University- New Orleans.
According to the contract agreement, the state will pay NCHEMS up to $99,000 to complete the study by its March 1 deadline.
NCHEMS will also conduct research involving community colleges on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain and review the state’s funding formula.
Additional information on the study will be discussed Tuesday in a special meeting beginning at 9 a.m. in the Louisiana Purchase Room of the Claiborne Building.
