Patrick Murphy, former head softball coach at the University of Alabama, will take over as head LSU softball coach, the Athletic Department announced Thursday.
Murphy will replace Yvette Girouard, who retired at the end of the 2011 season.
Murphy has coached with Girouard in the past, serving as an assistant softball coach at the University of Lafayette.
