VILLE PLATTE, La. (AP) — Authorities say two investigators with the Louisiana insurance fraud section have been shot and killed while trying to collect information from an agent and that a man has barricaded himself inside the business where the shooting happened.
Louisiana State Police spokesman Stephen Hammons says two were shot after 1 p.m. Tuesday. The department confirms that the two killed were veteran employees Rhett Jeansonne and Kim Sledge.
Hammons says more than 100 officers including a SWAT team and negotiators are outside the business in Ville Platte, some 70 miles west of Baton Rouge. He would not say what type of business or who was barricaded inside.
