The LSU softball team finished the season with a No. 22 ranking in both the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN/USA polls Tuesday.
The Tigers closed out the regular season with a 40-18 ranking, losing in an NCAA Regional to Texas A&M in May.
This year marked the program’s final season with long-time coach Yvette Girouard, who retired at the end of this season.
The LSU Athletic Department is continuing to search for a coach after the Department’s pick, Alabama Head Coach Patrick Murphy, decided earlier this week to stay at Alabama.
Arizona State finished first in both polls, followed by Florida and Alabama at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Other SEC teams ranked in the Top 25 are Georgia at No. 9, Kentucky at No. 13/12 and Tennessee at No. 18/16.
