The No. 44 LSU men’s tennis team defeated Brown (8-11) 4-0 in match play on Tuesday at the LSU Tennis Complex.
In the beginning, the Tigers earned the doubles point with the help of the No.10 doubles pair in the country as LSU senior Boris Arias and junior Jordan Daigle defeated Brown’s Gregory Garcia and Peter Tarwid, 6-3.
LSU secured the rest of the doubles point with the victory from Gabor Csonka and Andrew Korinek against the Bears’ Aaron Sandberg and Mladen Mitak, 7-5.
The Tigers cleaned up in the singles round as well starting with Korinek besting Sandberg in two sets, 6-3, 6-2, and LSU freshman Nikola Samardzic beat Mitak, 6-3, 6-1.
LSU junior Jordan Daigle capping the win for the Tigers after defeating Brown’s Garcia in two sets 6-3, 6-4.
All of the other matches were left unfinished.
“It was a good team win today, coming back in the doubles a bit and keeping our composure,” said LSU coach Jeff Brown in a news release. “We had some guys really able to dominate and going out of conference, in conference you don’t get as many of those opportunities so it was good for them to get a reminder of what they can do. We look forward to going back to practice and getting ready for South Carolina.”
LSU will compete again at 5:30 p.m. on Friday against the South Carolina Gamecocks at the LSU Tennis Complex.
